Ta dah!
Aren’t I clever?
Want to see it closer up? Of course you do. Here you go:
Ok. Now we can all move on with our lives.
It’s my last night of cake class tomorrow night and I’m glad. It’s been fun, but oh my god, you guys. I am so sick of freaking buttercream icing, I can’t even tell you.
So tonight we actually got to decorate our cakes. And I’m just going to save you the suspense right now and let you know that my cake was totally the best one.
Not that it’s a competition.
Here’s my “before” cake. I went with the classic seven-layer cake-raspberry jam-cake-icing-cake-raspberry jam-cake format. Turns out I can’t cut cake layers level to save my life, but you know what? I’m pretty sure the people who are going to be eating it won’t care.
And then, the after:
Look at those colours, will you? Am I not the freaking Titian of icing? (You don’t have to answer that. I know I am.)
Recently I was thinking that it was time for me to learn something new. Because that’s always a good idea. At the same time, it’s summer. Also, I have a full-time job. So I wasn’t really up for anything too school-ey.
So after a minimal amount of research, I found out that Michaels craft store does a cake decorating course. It sounded like a fun way to learn something new without the pressure of exams or papers. It’s not an expensive course, and since it has always been my dream to cover the world in icing roses*, I roped in a couple of ladies from work and signed right up.
