Right. I really must remember never to underestimate my own susceptibility to the power of suggestion.
You know how the other day I was talking about researching silversmithery? Well, I was mostly joking about that. But then, since I was on the computer anyway, I decided to look it up. And guess what? I am now more or less obsessed with the idea.
From what I watched on youtube, you get to use mini blow-torches, which smacks of fabulous from the get-go. (Mini blow-torches are the part of the creme brulee making kit that make me consider buying a creme brulee making kit every time I go to a kitchen shop.)
The idea of using the verbs “forge” and “solder” is strangely appealing as well. Also, I quite love silver jewelry.
So, I am going to take a class and make some silver stuff. I am pretty thrilled. So far I have found four places that look like they have interesting classes:
I have a few things going on in the next while to plan around, so maybe this will have to wait until the fall, but I actually think I’m going to do this. Random.
I guess I’ll keep you posted.
Sounds like a lot of fun – I’ve always wanted to do something like that and always good to challenge the things you think you can’t do!
Oh! It hadn’t even occurred to me that I couldn’t do this! I hope I can.
I LOVE that you are going to do this and I want details once you do! That is great! I understand what it means to become obsessed with random things to the point that you MUST do something about it to quench the all-consuming desire. Good for you!
Thanks! I’ll definitely keep you all updated as events warrant.
I knew a gal who made jewelry – silversmithing, not beads on a string 🙂 She had the most amazing pieces. I hope you show us some of your future work.
Yes, yes I will.
